COMOX VALLEY ROAD RUNNERS AWARD YOUTH TRAINING GRANTS
The Comox Valley Road Runners are a non- profit organization formed in 1980 to foster and promote running and healthy lifestyle in our community. As part of it's mandate, the club offers two annual grants of $300 to youth in our area to assist with training and competition expenses. It is directed to Comox Valley amateur runners, under 19 years old, competing at the regional, provincial or national level in road running, cross country running, track running events, or triathlon. This year the club is pleased to announce that Torin Halvorson and Peter Gledhill have been awarded the 2012 CVRR Youth Training Grants. These two dedicated young athletes have already shown their promise by recording stellar times in the recent Comox Valley Half Marathon, running 1:30:42 and 1:28:04 respectively, as 13 year olds. Subsequently, Torin has completed the Times Colonist 10 K in an amazing time of 39:49. They are two very deserving winners and both have a great running future ahead of them.
