This is another guest post about Janet Green.
“Janet Green joined the CVRR in 1987 encouraged by Gord and Kathy Davidson. She ran the Victoria 8k that year then joined running clinic in 1988 for our 20k race and Victoria marathon. She was disappointed with 3:49!!
Her PR of 3:17:12 happened in Toronto in 1992. She went on to run total of 442 marathons including 25 Bostons and 40 ultras including 15 Kneeknackers.
Her competitive running career ended abruptly 10 years ago with major right shoulder injury from fall on outstretched arm. She eventually had shoulder replacement and last surgery 2 weeks ago successful.
However, a patellar fracture 2024 from another fall ended her marathon career. She managed to finish the 2013 Boston 10 min. before bombs. Very scary!!
Her favourite marathon is the Jungfrau in Switzerland. She also enjoyed running Inca Trail and Great Wall of China. She belongs to the Seven Continents club although Antarctica marathon in 2021 was 423 laps around the boat as seas were too rough to go ashore.
She also completed 6 world majors – Boston, NYC, Berlin, London, Chicago and Tokyo twice.
She also participated in numerous Island plus Hood to Coast and Jasper-Banff relays with CVRR teams.
She enjoys helping with race registration for the CVRR half-marathon and Nautical Days race.
